Be extremely careful when conducting deals online. Scammers love to prey upon the buyers and sellers participating on classifieds sites.
Here are a few recommendations to help prevent yourself from being scammed.
#1. Whenever possible verify ownership of the boat prior to making any type of deal.
#2. Whenever possible have the boat inspected by a trusted shop, a trusted boat surveyor or yourself personally. See the boat in person before sending a deposit or any money!
#3. DO NOT SEND WIRE TRANSFERS! Wire transfers are a common way people get scammed on large purchases. When possible pay in person with a certified cheque that is made out to the seller OR the registered owner of the boat. If you must send a wire transfer, be cautious! Double, even triple check the wire details and confirm with the buyer/seller via telephone or in person.
If you send a wire transfer you are doing so at your own risk!
#4. Avoid conducting deals via email. Emails can be hacked!
#5. Be extremely wary of any sellers or buyers outside of Canada or the USA. This site is targeted for North American jet boat owners. Be extremely careful conducting the sale or purchase of a boat from any country outside of Canada/USA.
#6. If you see a suspicious boat or a suspicious seller/buyer please immediately inform us at web@jetboatsforsale.ca so we can remove the boat and block the seller/buyers account.
At JetBoatsForSale.CA We DO NOT sell boats! We simply provide a website that private sellers and dealers can list their jet boats for sale.
It is YOUR responsibility to do your own due diligence prior to accepting or sending funds/money when conducting the sale or purchase of a boat.
